We did Christmas eve in Winston-Salem with the Vaughns. Not only do we have photos of the present openings, but of the X5 getting a lift to the BMW dealer in Roanoke. Fun fun.

Hauling it up the mountian on the way home the Check Engine Light came on and the engine temperature gague went up to red. Hello AAA.

If you are ever stranded in the middle of nowheresville Virginia we cannot recommend Bert's Garage and Towing service highly enough. And they use International trucks!

Probably the highest obstacle the X5 has ever summited. Ok, it had to be helped up.

We shacked up at the Quality Inn. For 1/2 the price of the Doubletree just down the road, we got a shower and seperate tub, wireless high speed internet, and legal dog boarding.

We had to leave the mutt in the room when we went to dinner at the Red Palace Oriental Buffet. It was really good, and within walking distance of the hotel. What could car-less, dog toting, wayward travelers ask for.

Kristina's Christmas present from Will! It's going in the living room over the fireplace. (Yes, this means we are going to need to find a new home for Dagny's portrait. No worries - the dining room has some prime real estate, as does the foyer!)
